'CALL FOR ENTRY' EXHIBITIONS, 2024
We are excited to share our 'Call for Entry' platform with CaFÉ.org. These calls are known as local, national, and international juried art competitions. In order to apply for next year's show - we request interested artists to set up an account with CaFÉ for FREE. Upload a few recent works from your art portfolio. Once you have an account you will be sent all kinds of 'calls' or opportunities.
Art calls are opportunities for you to get your work visible at the state/national/international level. We encourage you to create an annual art exhibition budget for calls as one way to advance your professional art career for the potential to obtain awards and gather press on your work.
Artist calls are $35 to enter. Artists have the opportunity to win first, second and third prizes.
If you need an art consultation on what to submit from your portfolio, please email info@madrivervalleyarts.org, attention to Sam Talbot-Kelly, Artist/Executive Director, or call 802-496-6682, or visit us at the gallery Tues-Sat. 1-5pm. You can also request to be included in our newsletter for future opportunities.
Zero Celsius
ZERO CELSIUS takes place January- April at Mad Arts and at Sugarbush Resort. Both sites will present art on winter, cold, climate change, impact of human and environmental relationships, winter sports etc.
ZERO CELSIUS is a call to artists who explore nature, climate and environmental issues in their creative practice. Approximately half the globe experiences a winter season, which has this side of humanity either hunkering into our domestic interiors for ‘play’ or exploring all kinds of sport for recreation in the outdoors. In the history of art, winter scenes have been recorded as early as the15th Century giving insight into how humans have interacted with and perceived winter across different cultures and time periods since.
The call is after work that shares about the experience of winter, a symbol of purity, wonder, silence, and survival. Yet in our warming world, winter itself is becoming unstable. It will bring together artists working across sculpture, installation, sound, photography, and digital media to explore snow’s fragility in the face of climate change.
This exhibition examines snow/winter as both material, concept and metaphor: fleeting, crystalline, silent, yet deeply tied to global systems of water, ecology, and human life. We hope to raise awareness of the fragility of winter landscapes, to spark emotional connection through sensory experience, and to inspire dialogue between art, science, and community. We also hope to empower visitors to share their memories, stories and conversations around the significance of the winter season in our lives.
For those creatives who are interested in partaking in this juried call please go to submissions button below until the CaFE call is ready.
A $35 fee is required to participate unless you are already an existing 'Exhibition Member' with us since 2023.
In the meantime get your art ready to submit by getting a free account for artists at the CafE link above.
