Shape & Shadow is the creative studio of Emmy Award–winning artist and animation director Hayley Morris. Hayley is known for her authentic visual style, blending mixed media and stop-motion into work that feels imaginative, tactile, and full of life.
In an era defined by pixels and speed, Hayley’s practice stands as a deliberate return to touch, texture, and time. Working by hand—through paper, clay, fabric, fibers, and reclaimed materials—she constructs tactile worlds where every frame carries the imprint of care and intention. Her process resists the frictionless polish of the digital, instead embracing irregularity, depth, and the quiet evidence of the human hand.
Hayley’s work operates at the intersection of craft and storytelling. Materials are not merely aesthetic choices but narrative agents: paper folds become landscapes, stitched threads trace emotion, and recycled fragments gather new meaning through transformation. Each composition unfolds as a small, self-contained environment—richly layered, materially honest, and unmistakably personal.
This handmade sensibility fosters a rare intimacy, it resonates with everyone because it's both original and accessible. In a saturated visual culture, her textured universes invite pause, encouraging audiences to reconnect with the sensory and the tangible.
Her work spans commercials, branded content, music videos, projection design, and short-form animation for film and documentaries. She’s collaborated with Netflix, MTV, Burt’s Bees, Sesame Street, and artists like The Smashing Pumpkins, Iron & Wine, and Explosions in the Sky—bringing heart, creativity, and a distinctive touch to everything she creates.
